Why get Amazon Prime?

Did you know July 15th is Prime Day? I am sure you have heard all about it on radio and TV in the past few weeks. No longer do you have to wait for Black Friday to get deals on 1000's of items thanks to Amazon.com.

There is a catch, you have to be an Amazon Prime Member. On July 15th, Amazon Prime Members get exclusive access to these 1 day deals in addition to free shipping. Many of the deals are available with free same day delivery in select markets across the US. The cost for a Prime Member is $99 a year.

Just what exactly do you get for the annual membership of $99. In my opinion, you get unbeleivable value and access to products and media. In no particular order here are some of the biggest benefits. Free 2-day shipping on all orders(regardless of order size), free access to Prime Music, free access to Amazon Video(unlimited free content like Netflix), free e-book dowloads monthly. I can tell you from personal experience that I get thousands of dollars in value for just the $99 per year.

Let dig into each benefit individually. First, free 2-day shipping on almost everything on the site. I can not tell you the numnber of times I have needed something quicly and Amazon came through for me. Once my son needed a mosquito net for camp and I could not find one at any of the sporting goods stores. I ordered one Wednesday night, it arrived Thursday and he left Friday. In addition, it was cheaper on Amazon than in the stores. Another time my wife, who teaches sewing classes, needed a sweing machine as hers was acting up. Ordered on a Saturday and delivered Monday in time for her class. We have ordered books, non-perishable food, household essentails and received free 2-day delivery on everything.

Second, Amazon Music. This free streaming service is available on your computer or through an app on any connected device like a cell phone or tablet. Listen to your favorite songs and build playlists to listen for free without having to buy the music. Everything is stored in the cloud and accessable anytime from a connected device. I use Amazon playlists almost more than I do Pandora or my Itunes Library. Not 100% of what you want is available for free, but i was surprised how much content is available.

Lastly, Amazon Video. I am a huge Netflix binge watcher and Amazon Video has just as much content as well as Amazon only exclusives. You can watch select TV series, movies and other content for free as long as it has the "prime" banner, which is 90% of the content on the site.

So, in conclusion I do not see how anyone can not upgrade to Amazon Prime. The benefits far outweigh the annual cost. I am a huge fan of the program and would reccomend you upgrade today to take advantage of Prime Day 2015!
