Maybe I am just lucky, but I catch a few fish almost every time I go fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork River in Beavers Bend State Park. I thought I would share my favorite spots and where I consistently catch trout.
I use a lightweight ugly stick Rod with 3 lb test, a couple split shot weights and a salmon egg on a small salmon egg hook.
Spot #1 - I often go to the spillway. I cast just to the right of the large stream of water coming out of the dam.
Spot #2 - Right down the road from the spillway toward Beavers Bend is a turnout on the side of the road. I short hike down to the shore and you will find plenty of pools and slow moving water.
Spot #3 - Head into the park and park at the beginning of the friends trail. Between this parking lot and the bridge there are great pools and fast moving water on both sides of the river. You need to park down by the bridge to access the West side of the river.
From the bridge, you can hike all the way up to the dam. It is like 2 miles and you will definitly find plenty of privacy and fishing holes on the way. It is about 2 miles.
Good Luck and do not forget to post pictures of you fish on our Facebook or Instagram pages. We love to hear stories about the big one lost too!
