Campfires are symbolic of camping and spending time outdoors. Campfires instantly evoke feelings of togetherness and promote and atmosphere of being together in an intimate setting. All of our cabins on the Hibernation Hollow property have fire pits for our guest enjoyment. Here are our top 5 fun things to do around the campfire.
Tell Scary Stories - I grew up in California going to boy scout camps and YMCA summer camps. I heard my fair share of scary stories around the campfire. It is one of my favorite memories from my childhood. I used to get so scared I could not sleep some nights.
Play Games. Some suggestions are:
Truth or Dare - Pretty obvious how to play this one. Be safe with those dares.
Would You Rather. Just like the above, but a choice needs to be made...
Two Truths and a Lie - Who can pick the lie?
Twenty Questions - Any Topic, Any Place, Any Object. One player thinks of an item, lets say "Disneyland". The other players have 20 questions to try and figure it out. All questions must be"yes" or "no".
Name that tune - You can either bring a guitar if you are a talented musician or use pandora radio to play random songs from different genres. First one to guess the song name or artist wins.
Charades - Everyone knows how to play this right? Some are just much, much better than others.
Roast S'mores or Hot Chocolate - Chocolate, Marshmallows and Graham Crackers are everyones favorite snack right? Sometimes a morning campfire with hot chocolate is the best way to start the day. How do you like your marshmallow? The perfect golden brown or burned?
Relax and meditate - I don't know about you, but just staring into the fire can be so relaxing. Just the popping of the wood and the sounds can be so soothing along with the other sounds of nature.
Sing Songs - You wont catch me playing this game, but some of you might have fun with this one.
A couple last suggestions before you plan your next campfire. First, do not forget you need firewood and at least one match to bring a campfire to life. There is always kindling around our property and plenty of leaves and dry brush to help get your fire started. We do suggest bringing dry wood in the rainy seasons. Nothing can be more frustrating than try to keep a fire going with wet wood. Most of the stores and gas stations in Hochatown have firewood readily available year round.
